Update on our new Seattle factory
We’ve been in our new factory for two months now and we find more reasons to love it everyday. Having extra space (while it lasts) is grand — we have plenty of light, plenty of power, and extra parking. Though we seem to be in a Bermuda Triangle as far as convenient espresso goes, we are in all other ways very happy to be where we are. We’re getting folks trained and certified on the forklift, optimizing how sewing machines and finished product fit into the new space, and finishing up sorting through rolls of fabric and boxes of parts; all of the things you might expect after a big move. We’re putting the finishing touches on our new Seattle Retail Store/Factory Showroom and, while we are planning a grand opening later this Spring, we will be open on Saturday, April 16th from 11:00am – 4:00pm for everyone who has been patiently waiting to see our new location.
Stay tuned to the blog for more updates on our factory, including new photos and video.
April Fools! We’d never quit making bags. It’s what we do.
No More Bags, We’re Starting a Band (April Fools!)
The Top-Stitches from left to right: Aracelia, Irma, Lisa, Tom, Aravelia, June, Fong
Tom Bihn and some of his top production crew announced today that they are giving up making bags to focus on their musical aspirations. “There comes a time” said Tom, “when the Muse calls and you must answer.” Their band, the “Top Stitches”, will perform not only Tom’s favorite tunes from French Canada, but also traditional songs in Cantonese, Spanish and Tagalog. “We figured if we can make great bags as a team, think of what could we do with a fiddle, a banjo and an accordion!” Though the rest of the TOM BIHN crew initially advised Tom against quitting his day job, they were ultimately inspired to follow his lead and pursue their own dreams. “I’ve always wanted to break in to the movies” said one seamstress, who wanted to remain anonymous, as she clocked out for the last time. “I’m going to become a dentist!” exclaimed an unidentified customer service representative. “The sky’s the limit!”
